CONSTRUCTION OF BRAZED PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS

A brazed plate heat exchanger is a device which consists in a serial of pressed and thin stainless steel plates vacuum brazed together with copper or nickel foil at very high temperatures which ensures a solid and leak proof device with  a very high thermal efficiency.

BRAZED PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS,  HOW IT WORKS?

Flow Channels are formed between two adjacent plates heating and cooling media flow through alternate channels with high velocity and turbulence due to the corrugated pattern pressed in the plates, this corrugation also provide the unit with mechanical strength and roughness. Hex brazed plate heat exchangers pack high thermal efficiency with high thermal efficiency into a compact design, these units are ideal for applications where space is limited and the design and construction standards allow continuous operations at temperatures ranging from -100 Deg. F to 390 Deg. F. with operating pressures up to 400 PSI. in addition they are lightweight and can in most cases be mounted directly onto piping without supports.

Features,Benefits & Typical Uses

Plate Heat Exchanger

Main article: Plate heat exchanger

Another type of heat exchanger is theplate heat exchanger. One is composed of multiple, thin, slightly-separated plates that have very large surface areas and fluid flow passages for heat transfer. This stacked-plate arrangement can be more effective, in a given space, than the shell and tube heat exchanger.

Advances in gasket and brazing technology have made the plate type heat exchanger increasingly practical. In HVAC applications, large heat exchangers of this type are called plate-and-frame; when used in open loops, these heat exchangers are normally of the gasketed type to allow periodic disassembly, cleaning, and inspection. There are many types of permanently-bonded plate heat exchangers such as dip-brazed and vacuum-brazed plate varieties, and they are often specified for closed-loop applications such as refrigeration. Plate heat exchangers also differ in the types of plates that are used, and the configurations of those plates. Some plates may be stamped with "chevron" or other patterns, where others may have machined fins and/or grooves.
